In another thread I mentioned that my CA had no evidence of there ever having been a rear main oil seal in it, well, my Grandson pulled the manifold off to put a new one on and lo and behold, there was no manifold gasket whatsoever! just a film of blue RTV silicone. Yikes!

Two of the exhaust ports showed slight leakage but the intakes appeared to be sealed nicely. It ran well.

Back in the 70s I've knew racers and old time SuperStock pullers that used RTV for manifold gaskets. When I first heard about it, I thought: No that can't work, but it does. With the removal of asbestos from the manifold gaskets, I always use some Red RTV around the port holes. That is the only thing that I've found to make the new type manifold gaskets last more than a few years.
If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits.
If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY

Ford built literally millions of engines with no exhaust manifold gaskets, but this is the first time I have seen an engine with no gasket on the intake.
