what is the difference the HD4 and the 653 dozer, are parts still available for these and why didn't Allis use the little 4 cylinder diesel in more of their tractors? Are these dozers hard to work on and what can you expect to pay for one in good shape?

Main difference is 653 is pedal steer. HD4 is lever steer. Great little machines. Part are getting harder to find. Price is what you feel comfortable paying. HTH Tracy

The same engine was use in cotton pickers but the HP was upped to I believe 85 HP
Ran into mechanic down in Indiana at GM truck shop who did work on the 2200 and said they could put out a lot more HP with some work and I believe he said with turbo used and changes to pump .
Life lesson: If you’re being chased by a lion, you’re on a horse, to the left of you is a giraffe and on the right is a unicorn, what do you do? You stop drinking and get off the carousel.
