AC factory auction

I was wondering what happened to everything in the factory, thanks for posting!!

We, Joe Coleman from J&J Sales, Ronnie Hill from Farm Sales, Franklin, Tn and Tom Silvers from Alabama all went together to the parts sale of the tractor plant. This was different than this. Supposed to be dealers only and Deutz-Allis parts purchasing. Have told this before, but we bought nearly all the 7000/8000 series high crops final drive and front axle parts for less than 10 grand witch included about a truck load of other stuff. I almost panicked when I realized I had not arranged trucking, but Bill Homier from Homier and Sons came to my aide. We shipped the parts to Cane equipment Plaquemine La / Bill Satterwhite. they put it in storage and years later the Austin Indiana Hunley (Austin and Everett) boys used these to reverse engineer and put on the HC units they built for Agco.  Also at the sale they actually had 3 tubs of snap coupler parts - one tub lower - one tub upper then the springs and rivets & other stuff - I wound up the the lowers - when the sale was over I started pitching the lowers in the uppers to even them out. Some dealers' wife came over and threatened to 'call the law' if I didn't put them back. I tried to explain that one was no good w/o the other and was making no headway when her hubby came up - I explained the situation and he looked at me and said put them back or I"LL call the law.I told him I had a better idea - you take them both ! (about a $50 loss for 50 pieces that I paid) Geeeze.. Anyway Ronnie Hill and Deutz Allis bought about all the wet clutch plates - thousands - There was one dealer who started bidding and run up the bid on some power director clutch plates that only DA was bidding on - after the bidding on them was over the dealer said "by gawd I made them pay for that!" To which Ronnie Hill went up to him and very loudly told him he was an idiot because he just run up the price he was going to have to pay for  them if he needed any. The crowd applauded.   Later Ronnie got a call and sold several hundred plates back to Batavia - he did it as a service to other dealers - Ronnie - who moved to Eagleville and has passed away - was a super guy - one in a million. Just a few old AC tales.

Went thru that at Maytag,,, tried to compete with Mexican wire harnesses- had all kinds of machines built to make that happen- 6 months later- all hauled to scrap,,,, the end--- it is so very sad that just the down turn of the eightys in Ag Sales- just screwed them all up,, but reading thru more info - dam they were in debt ,,, crazy business practices,,
