Paint Spray Gun Questions

   My first time trying to paint with a HVLP spray gun and have a few questions:

About how many ounces of mixed paint does it take for for one coat on an Allis B (all parts are stripped)? The paint cup holds 34 ounces and I was thinking about mixing 24 ounces on first attempt.
If I end up with excess paint after the first coat, about how long will it keep in the spray gun before causing a problem?  I was planning a second coat in 40 to 60 minutes after the first (it’s about 70-80 degrees now during daytime high).
Using a hardener (Restoration Shop Enamel Wet Look Hardener). What are pros/cons of using this only on the final coat? Specs show to use 8 parts paint to 1 part hardener.
Plan to use an Airline Filter between two 50 foot long air hoses. Are these lengths okay, or should I get two much shorter air hoses?
I’m using custom mixed Industrial Automotive Enamel and plan to dilute 25% with paint thinner (internet searches note a range from 25% to 50%).  Is 25% a reasonable mix for a first attempt?

Using an ancient large stationary Peerless 1.5hp air compressor located in my tractor barn (plate does not disclose CFM).  I’m using a AllTrade Trades Pro HVLP gravity feed spray gun & cup with following specs on the large gun: Fluid Tip Dia 1.4mm, Air Consumption 11-13 CFM, Pressure 30-43 psi, Cup 34oz.

	Don't know about the paint amount needed or if you will have enough air capacity, you didn't mention how big the tank is. I an addressing the inline filter, attach it as close to the gun as possible cause moisture is the enemy in painting and all can look great then all of a sudden there is a drip of water mixed in the paint and not much you can do with that spot at that moment. Put the filter between the gun pressure regulator and the hose connector. Practice and patience, put some thinner in the gun and try spraying that on cardboard to see if the air keeps up and look at the pattern the gun is spraying. Seek out a couple you tube videos to get an idea. Good luck and wear a face mask to protect your lungs

	The time between coats is called flash time. If using hardener, read the label to find out what working life is. At that temperature your working life may be much less than 40 minutes. Too much time between coats may have adhesion problems. Do not let that hardener set up in the gun or you'll be buying a new gun. Use thinner that is preferably same brand as your paint. As for hardener in top coat only? IDK, never tried that
