I had to drop Evie off for her first day as a high school freshman. Must have been some construction dust or something in the air because my eyes got fairly watery as I drove away. Today it's just the freshman then Monday everybody goes back. They call it a soft start. It's so all the teachers can help the freshmen find their way around. We went to her open house on Wednesday and I have to say as a father of a freshman girl walking around the school it's hard to not wonder which of those little bastards is going to have their manhood removed when they get a little to close

Tyler, as a Dad, we go through many of these firsts, they all hurt, but it’s hard on us knowing what is coming, but also scary for them as an unknown! I remember my bride and I driving all the way back from dropping my baby off at college with tears in our eyes. Don’t worry, be strong, she’ll be fine, it’s those poor boys that should be worried !

Just wait until you drop her off at college and drive away.    I hadn’t cried that much since I was 4.

yep! been there, done that! HS wasn't so dramatic, but leaving my baby girl hundreds of miles away from home for collage was rather tough. I choked the tears back, but it wasn't easy.
I am still confident of this;
I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
Wait for the Lord;
be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. Ps 27

Speaking of those poor boys, I'm sure we've all seen the picture of the squirrel hanging in the shepherds hook by his manhood? As we were walking through open house I kept thinking "I'm going to need a BIG shepherds hook"

August 1st school starts? Good grief!! Tuesday after Labor Day when we were that age. I remember the he!! school boards took when the start was moved to before Labor Day weekend.
I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

They grow up before you know it. I agree with Joe…it’s those boys that need to be worried. You and Danielle have given your girls a good solid foundation that will serve them well through life.
Just an old country boy saved by the grace of God.

It's just one of those steps of life that we have to go through when we have daughters.  All you can hope for is that we gave them the right values and they remember that.  They go from Daddy's little girl to a young lady, to a young woman and then the ultimate loss, someone else's woman.  Then it starts over again when they make you a grand father.  Grandpas can really get away with telling young gentlemen what they have in store if they step over the line.  I scared the be-geepers out of my granddaughters future husband!  He likes me NOW....

It seems impossible though!!  TOO FAST!!  I'm still chuckling about the 'out of the mouths of babes'.  Just look ahead to all the achievements that she is going to share with you at school.  Seh'll make you proud Tyler.

Oh yes, one other thing.... She'll ALWAYS be Daddy's little girl.  She's told me that.
