WD&WD45 for sale?

I find it interesting to go to Craig's List or Yesterday's Tractors at any given time at most any part of the country and you will find at least one or two WD's or 45's for sale. I guess to me it is comforting to see that the old AC's are not yet gone and forgotten. However to me it seems that they are mostly overpriced for what they are, unless you are in bad need for some cheap horsepower to mow your 10 acres with. I have always felt that you can spend a small amount on the tractor and a considerable amount more on a good mower and have a rig that would stand up to any 10,000.00 new style mower that is on the market I see a lot of sellers that are asking 2500.00 and up on a rig that could be probably should be bought for around 1100.00. The price is just my opinion, but more of what I am trying to get at, is how low in the past have you seen these tractors go for? I have heard of them going for 300 to 500 in the past years, but sadly to say, this was before I was in the collecting hobby.  Just my opinion for the day. Just the same , it makes me happy to see them pop up for sale.  I believe the name will be around a while yet. Dave.

I bought a very nice WD45 last year for 800. It was sitting on the road side with make offer. His son said he had several $500 dollar offers. I offerer $800 and took it home. Had to call my wife and have her bring the check book while I waited. Its all original just needed new plugs and timing set to run real well. its so tight even the seat dosen't have and play in it. Tire are weather checked pretty bad but hold air and have good tread.

About 15 years ago I bought a WD-45 that my neighbour bought new. The second owner was having an auction about 2 miles away. Had no intention of buying but a very straight originial with rebuilt engine and rebuilt hand clutch and a # 7 loader can not be missed for $850. The rebuild invoices were stapled inside the owners manual. If you remember my redneck hedge trimming pictures, that is the tractor. A week later an average wide front 45 sold for twice the amount.

   Around here you can buy Farmall M's right around the same as a WD45, $1250 to $1500. People get stupid on Deeres. IMO.

I bought my 45 in 1980 with factory PS, a freeman loader with manure and snow bucket, and a set of good X cross tire chains for $850. I did put $368 worth of parts in it to fix 3rd gear and the front tires were replaced about 10 years later. Rear tires look exactly as they did when I bought it, still weather checked.

One way I think about it is how much car or pickup can you buy for 2 or 3k ? I also like what Skip said about tires being a big factor in value these days.

Don - are you telling me my Craigslist WD45 with power steering and an Oxnard blade to boot for $900 was a good deal????  LOL!  You have to be quick on the Craigslist deals...just like that $75 Oxnard scoop you missed.  I missed a nice shedded white top $200 rotobaler in early December by 15 minutes.   Mike

I went to about 4-5 Auctions in 2010 with wd45's on them and they all sold for over $3000. there even was one with nice sheetmetal and the motor was stuck that sold for $1600.

Now WD's are a little different story, it seams they are around the $1000 range around here.

I am just figuring that with such a good crop in 2010 the farmers are needing to spend there money and don't care what they pay??

BobH you hit that nail on the head.  I really scratch my heed when I see what the 8Ns and 9Ns go for.  They are just a bigger heavier garden tractor.

15 years ago my elderly nieghbor bought a wide front WD45 gas w # 9 loader,manure scoop'front blade at auction 1000.00$Has been parked outside with only a coffee can for cover.If I can get her to turn over she will start,needs sone manifold,head work done.Other than that what a great investment.Mowing, bushogging,snow plowing, moving round bales,pulling firewood up out of the woods.Tractor has performed better than expected.
A young nieghbor up the road had brand new New Holland? Blue? about 40 hp with mower,loader,blade 22,000.00$ You have to be kidding me,Oh yah he recently went banctrupt and had to sell everything at auction.
Thats why I believe price is coming up,just too expensive to buy new with all the safety stuff(I would like to be able to climb off while it is running)

i hope to get my new acquired wd-45 going this year....dunno what kinda shape the chevy motor thta's in it is in!
