Allis D17 oil pickup question, there is a small hole on the top of the pickup that looks like it is soldered closed, mine has a hole in it, should I solder it closed.  Thanks Bill

I would imagine the hole should be plugged to see to it all oil comes in thru the screen and not suck any air from the top. Then again, it hasn't hurt a thing has it ?? Your choice.
