I’ve changed the hydraulic fluid before on my wd, and I used vp J20a in the hydraulic, transmission and differential. However I recently had the PTO gasket go bad and read somewhere that the transmission and rearmed use gear oil. I thought all areas used the same oil. Do I need to change the trans and rear end to the proper weight gear oil?

NO.. you dont need to change.. HYdraulic- Transmission oil is GREAT for all the cavities.. Some wish to use gear lube in the transmission .. that is OK also, but not REQUIRED..
I personally like gear lube in the Final Drive cases... but even that application can be Hy-trans type oil if you wish.. Edited by steve(ill) - 2 hours 52 minutes ago at 4:48pm |
