J Woke up last week with a thought of making a tractor ornament at the entrance to my farm.
Found this WD (lower case blown) on its way to being stripped and sent to the junk yard.
Drove 6 hours round trip and secured her.
Going to set her up and do some landscaping around.
Question…
What can I do to make it weatherproof?
Clear coat on the paint?
Anything to solidfy the tires?

just rub some oil into the paint and that should help... lots of old tractors setting in the weeds for 50 years and still have some paint on them... redo the oil every couple years ??
Them rear tires look like KEEPERS ?? ... They make stuff to spray on tires to make them black and resist sun light... Dont know if that helps long term or not .... setting concrete blocks under the rear pans might help to keep the weight off the tires.

Interesting. We wanted to do similar with a F30 that was rescued from neighboring farm and was originally from my grandmothers farm and we have a picture of her on it as a teenager

Build a gazebo over it with room to sit around it. Wouldn't that be pretty neat.

Good save. The WDs don't get as much love as the WD-45s do but they are worth saving. Still very handy tractors even if they are a few HP less. I never turn down a cheap one.

Pour a pad and install stands to keep most/all tractor weight off tires. Cover pad with dirt/mulch.
Paint - brush on your used oil every 3k miles:)

You're lucky those front hooks didn't 'saw' through that webbing!! I sure hope you didn't have to haul it very far!
It's got the front screen over the front. These are worth a few $$$$. There are always guys looking for these!
Front tires and rims look in great shape. SAVE em!
Exhaust maniflod looks rather new. Another thing to save.
It's got good headlights.
Tires on the rear are about half worn and the rims look in great shape.
The seat pan and assy is salvageable.
Fenders and Battery box look good.
This NOT a lawn ornament!! This looks like a salvageable tractor!!
HELL, bring it to La Crosse and I'll give you TWO to use as lawn ornaments!!

Sweet save on your newly acquired Allis tractor.
What about doing a “live artwork” version with the WD?
By that I mean, get it into operating condition, then when you’re not using it, park it at its display area ~ you’ve already got that covered ~ great job! Maybe Best of both worlds ~ right? If so, then tires get occasionally rotated/flexed/aired up. Engine/drivetrain gets lubricated. Electrical system gets charged. You get to enjoy operating it. Lots of ways to utilize it ~ tractor drive by itself, hook a wagon onto it to assist tree limb pickups after storms, or help wife haul dirt/landscaping mulch/shrub pruning’s, or new plants around yard/house, blade driveway for lane maintenance ~ gravel/snow, etc, etc…???
And if not being operated, everyone gets to enjoy viewing it on display.

Mix 1/3 linseed oil with 2/3 mineral spirits and wipe on the tractor after washing/drying. A thin coat or two. It gives a sparkle shine that lasts two years or so outside and recoat. Super inexpensive and easy. I learned it from YouTube channel vice grip garage.
Pull the plugs and put oil on the pistons and rotate the engine a few times. That can help keep from freezing up. Drain the radiator.
Don't rely on the exhaust flapper to keep the weather out. I cut the top off and removed the label from a clear 2L pop bottle to go snuggly over it all when not regularly using it. Verify the exhaust pipe shingles over the manifold opening so not to run water down it.
Remove the battery and cut a rubber mat that covers the battery box and control box. Zip tie it on. Make a secondary shifter boot to keep moisture from getting in there.
Once a year crack open the drain plugs to release any water accumulated in the oil.
That way you can save the parts and maybe convert it into a runner for an aspiring homesteader. These tractors fed the nation and can still do so.
