I believe this is the FWA valve. It is
leaking oil out of the solenoid. Are these repairable? Parts book says 70272654
is seal kit for solenoid. Is it possible to remove the solenoid without
removing the valve body. This is a 8030 with power director transmission serial

I think there is an o-ring under it?

Yes, the thin nut on top holds the coil on. Nothing to leak with the coil. The stem that the coil goes on can then be unscrewed from the valve body , if that's where it is leaking. Just an O-ring to seal the stem assembly to the valve body. Careful, there's a fair amount of pieces in the stem. Don't lose them.

I put on oring on mine last week. I believe it was less than a dollar for the part and about 30 minutes to take coil of solenoid, clean, pull solenoid and replace oring. The hard part on mine was the aux fuel tank with 60 gallon fuel.

I took the thin nut off but can’t get the
tin cap to come off. Tried tapping on it with a hammer and screwdriver but it
won't budge, and I don’t want to break anything. Would it be ok to spray penetrating
oil on it? The stim is very loose so I suspect that is where it is leaking. Thanks
for all the help |

I soaked mine with PB Blaster, there is a metal sleeve between the nut and the metal cover for the coil. A little elbow grease and it should come apart.

If the stem is loose, you might try tightening it and see if it stops the leak.
