I'm looking for any advice or tips in regards to the 5040. I bought one before it went to the scrap yard. It rolls and the engine turns over by hand. It's missing all 3 injectors and the fuel tank.

Don't get to deep. The engines are Fiat - 5040 5045 5050 and Long 360 2360 2460 Oliver and others .  Front grills really tough to find. Lots of cheap salvage - do the research. I would be hesitant to go into an engine and expect $$$... There were different types of pistons in the same engines and thing like that. .

I didn't pay much for it. My initial intention is to just get it running again then go towards a full restoration. I'm not really concerned about how much money I have to spend. This is a passion project of mine.

The Romanians were passionate as well when they put their President and his wife up against the Tractor plant wall where this was built and machine gunned them .... Ceausescu,,,, look it up.

Indeed, passion can drive all manner of change whether political or old tractor based! Cool bit of trivia too, which I didn't know. Smile With that being said, my first port of call would be, since the injectors are already out, rig up some jump wires to get the starter turning it over & do a compression test (after verifying engine oil is present and not TOO contaminated). It could be the last guy did just that & found it to be DOA so didn't bother throwing the injectors back in.

Assuming you have decent-ish compression (for an engine that's obviously cold & has sat open for X amount of time, don't pay too much mind to the 10% rule just see that there's at least somebody home).
