 Topic: 190XT front tires

Still slowly fixing up my new XT. I bad need of a set of front tires. Currently has 6.50-16 on it. I know it calls for 7.50-16. I'm thinking I'll be putting a loader on it, so thinking about putting a set of 4 rib 10.00-16 on it. 99% sure I'll have to change rims. Anyone else gone this big? Will the 7.50-16 be fine?

Absolutely you will need new rims if you go to 10 x 16. Most 190s came
with 7.5 x 16 - still too small in my opinion. Mine came with 7.5 x
16 when I bought it, but I went to 10 x 16 when I restored it. I got a
set of front rims from a 200 tractor and they fit good. With 18.4 x 34
on the rear, it does lift up the front quite a bit. 9.5 x 15 from a 185
might keep it a bit more level.

I do like to looks of the bigger tires. Have been looking around at rim options. Shoup has a couple different ones, just not sure the difference in them. All have the same 1.125 offset. Hate to get a set and find that the tires will rub. May have to do some searching in the wrecking yard.

11.50 x 15 four rib,would be you ticket. keeping the tractor sitting leval looks the best to me i borrowed some tires from my tire shop to get a look at them on my d17 with 16,9 x28 on the back 9.5 x15 on eight inch wheels are just right for me and the 11.5 x15 on 10 inch rims was way to tall , i have a ford 8600 in the yard right with 10 x 16 tri ribs they are 33 tall its rears are 18.4 x38 and the grill is a little higher than the back of the hood

Just a thought: If you're thinking of putting a loader on, first find a rims that have the correct offset, next pick one with the highest weight rating, then choose your tire size. why put big tires on a rim with a low weight rating?

put the 10.00x16 on it and don't look back, you'll love it! A good local tire shop can tell you the correct rim width for you.

Decided to pull a front off the other tractor and see how they look. I'm thinking I like the 10.00-16. Now just need to find a set of wheels that won't break the bank. Used would be fine for this old ride.

My 756 has 10.00x16's on what I assume are the original rims. Would have come with 6.50X16's new. They are a little pinched but don't look goofy. Now, one went flat not long after getting here, I dismounted it and got a new tube but COULD NOT get that thing back on the rim! Had to take ot to the local tire shop. Personally, I wouldn't have set it up like that but it works and not going to change it.

Are you wanting the 6" wide or 10" wide? May part with the narrow ones if I make the change. The wide ones go on my 9520.

I've never had 18.4x34" tires on a tractor. So no personal experience. My preference would be the 10:00x16 especially with a loader or doing tillage in soft dirt. I've had both 9.5Lx15" and 10:00x16" tires on several tractors with 16.9 & 18.4x38" rears. 18.4x38 Goodyears and 9.5Lx15 4 rib, hood will look level on AC 200 & AC7000. 18.4x38 Firestone and 10:00x16 3 or 4 rib, hood will look level on AC200. is My loader tractor w/ Westendorf WL40 & Quik Tach 84" bucket.

Bought a pair of 10.00-16 wheels and 4 rib tires off of a 1070 Case at an auction this weekend. $260 for the pair. Cheap enough for me I guess. Tires are not new, but they will do. Pretty happy with the way it looks. Bought a loader out of Iowa for $800 delivered. Just have to get the cylinders packed and it's ready to pin on. Few mechanical issues that I need to look in to down the road, but I really like this old tractor.

Make sure you get tractor rims. They have a far heavier center in them than wagon rims, if this is something you are gonna keep for years, I'd go to my local farm tire shop and have them order the correct pair of new ones. That way you are sure you are getting the correct rims.

Before putting the loader on the 190 might want to take it out and try to constantly shift from forward to reverse for awhile.For me a 190 would be about the last tractor I'd want a loader on.Just pulled the loader off my 185 not a loader friendly shifting set up either as far as I'm concerned.

We had a 500 loader on a 190 for years. I loved it. I could work the hydraulics with my right hand and the shifter with my left

Have you ever had a real utility tractor with a loader? My 2 Oliver 1365 tractors and David Brown 990 with loaders would run circles around the 185 and the 190 is even worse to shift,plus the front ends are more loader friendly.But any loader beats no loader for sure.

One the subject of rims when I had the loader on the 185 the original rims with 7.50 X 16 tires cracked around the lug holes.Replaced those rims with rims that took a 9.5L X 15 tires off a New Holland 851 round baler.Those have held up very well no problems.The NH rims were thicker and much heavier than the AC tractor rims.
