    Posted: 23 Aug 2024 at 11:00am
About 10 years back I switched to TRACPHONE cell service when I had to pay full cost of service after I quit driving tankers .
So service was limited minutes but on plan they doubled if I renewed yearly .
So for $100 and no monthly fee I got 900 minutes a year that carried over if renewed .
So have around 3,000 minute banked , and also now text and data amounts
Over last 4 years I renewed service through QVC sales site for $80 and a new phone each year . NOW Tracphone has sold out to VERISON and at End of November evidently service ends .
So I don't use the phone that much , don't text much , don't use data on phone but also want a low cost plan . One thing I liked on TRACPHONE was NO Monthly service charge, sales tax, and other fees - just pay once a year and forget all the added costs others seem to add to bills .
So who has a good service - Low Cost - plan out there yet has good coverage areas?

Spectrum had a deal for $25 per month. I'm not sure if it is still on.

I have had Tracfone for 17 years and about 2 years ago I cancelled my landline service, because of the cost. I contacted Tracfone phone about the service being ended in November. They told me that my service will not end.

Seriously considering dumping ATT and these Gawdawful I Phones for another Old School Flip-phone.  Just receive and Send calls, do not care what company so long as do that.

You sound like my son. His mantra "I want a phone that works, I don't need a camera to show my injury to help the cornier figure out how I died."

I wish you all well with the Trac phones and Version. We had Version over 20 years, as their coverage was the best back then. It has not improved much over the years. They started charging for things my old flip phone was not capable of doing. I never use it just a emergency device that rides in the pickup truck. My wife declared war and was not paying 20 or 30 dollars a month for nothing. Every month they would remove the charges and say they fixed it. But next month the charges are still there. An hour to 4 hours going back and forth each month, so we are not Version customers anymore.

I get really pissed every time I look at a land line bill. All the government addons are more than ATT gets for basic phone service. But still the handiest and most reliable service here at the house.

Check this website out. They use the AT&T system and I don't know how reliable they are in your area. I have had Verizon for quite a number of years but am considering changing over.

Seems a lot of the services are set up for those who use a lot of minutes or spend lot of time on phone .
Why I did like Tracphone - it works here where other carriers have had weak signal to no signal . Also the part of one payment a year -no hidden fees - as they pay those in yearly cost.
I have a landline that i use at home and for computer net service
