Is there a limit on maximum temperature for storage of latex paint? We know not to allow latex to freeze, as it turns lumpy. But, does the same happen if temperatures are too high? Are certain brands more tolerable to storage in hot temperatures?

Timely post. I just opened a year old almost full gallon of paint and it looks about to go bad. It's in my climate controlled shop too. I have very little luck saving paint.

hmm... maybe carefully add water above the paint ? also put into smaller can so less air in the can.
Google probably has a few ideas.....

I have heard that you should make sure the lid is on tight and store the container upside down to seal it up.

The new style "screw on top" plastic gallon jugs that I have been buying seem to seal and store pretty well. I keep mine in my basement, so heat isn't an issue. HOT storage will be bad for anything (esp paint)...

got 3 --- 5 gallon buckets here in the basement,-- never opened and been there for 10 years or more. I turn them upside down ever once in a while. Dont have time to use it!

There is a Lifespan on Latex Paints, much as anything Organically Based, started rotting the day harvested, continues to rot until that little spot swells into the entire can/bucket. Spoke to our local Hardware store, Base Latex Paint if does Not sell within two years goes Back to the producer for destruction as will fail to perform adequately for the protection they claim and present.
