No not Climate just weather. Starting second week of August as finish First Full week, 54 degrees here this morning high expected at 75, to be this same way Tomorrow and accept it graciously. Grass turned off again as was so hot/dry last two weeks but not triple digit so a respite from mowing. Rains and remain cooler all next week before heat flares again.
One Oddity does stand out, did not see our persimmon trees flower this spring yet have fruit on them, not a lot but large and heavy. Nut trees, Hickory, Walnut are dropping green nut pods A LOT, not expected even as dried up last two weeks, really awful littering drive and yard areas where rake them prior to a mow. Old timers have said this winter will be a Bad one. Edited by DMiller - 10 Aug 2024 at 6:13am |

Are you saying the 20+ degree change is weird for your area? Or just the fact of it being as cool as 54 in August?
It has been hot here by any standard, yesterday was 106. It was cool in the morning, radio reported 54 in the morning, I did not look. Just enjoyed the cool as long as it lasted. Generally 40+ degrees change is common. The over 50 degrees is not real often but not in the weird category by any means. Thankfully so far this summer after 5 or 6 days over 100 we have gotten a day or 2 of 95 or less. A guy running a local auto repair shop is on the radio right now with a call in questions show. But commented on acclimatizing to the hot weather. If less than 95 he just leaves the shop doors open. Only turns the air on at higher than 95 temps.

Last year I mowed the grass on 4 acres ONLY 4 times for the year . Then was spotty in areas that actually needed to be cut .
Other property 10 miles away only 3 times So far this year it's been weekly mowing on both , that is if it isn't raining . Mowed last week and looking out it's due again , other property was mowed on Wednesday but not trimmed so need to get that done also . Dang Creeping Charley is growing like mad and trying to control it from taking over is a loosing situation this year as I pull it around the house it seems to come back twice as mush in a few days . Need to find something to kill it as everything I have used in the past seems to make it grow better . Edited by Coke-in-MN - 10 Aug 2024 at 1:21pm |

Life lesson: If you’re being chased by a lion, you’re on a horse, to the left of you is a giraffe and on the right is a unicorn, what do you do? You stop drinking and get off the carousel.

The remnants of Hurricane Debby got to us yesterday. I dumped my rain gauge Thursday morning. It holds 5 1/2". We got some rain Thursday. Last evening the gauge was running over.
We had flooding in areas that, in my 69 years, I have never seen flooding. The top of the ladder on our neighbors ABOVE GROUND POOL was the only thing above the water. A house in the neighboring town collapsed after the foundation crumbled. Vermont, which is pretty close to us had flooding "100 year storms" two years in a row in July (close to the same date). Something is definitely changing the weather!!!

68° in southern Wisconsin today. Finally got a little stretch where it doesn't rain every 3rd day and people cut hay like crazy. Tried to bale dry hay this afternoon and it was still high in moisture. Try again tomorrow. Just not getting the full on sun.

Seems like it rained her in WI (La Crosse) about every other day or 3rd day since April and just quit doing that around the 3rd week in July. Now last Tuesday (The 6th) I got 1.08 and when I left up there this morn, I had .64 at 10am. It has rained here in town a couple of times since and one was HARD and a lot of water. We had almost NO snow last winter and I didn't mind, but it wasn't good for crops. BUT then the rain we got wasn't good either. Lot of guys had LATE planting. There were quite a bunch of farms that had ruined corn and beans because of standing water. Water where there normally isn't any.

Absolutely nothing unusual about the weather- we're approaching the peak of the 11-year sunspot cycle.

Coming on to Solar Maximum, gets to a nasty level of unrest. Just reported that a record level of sunspots have been counted at one time
