Hello, I have a 6080 y'all helped me finish the rebuild on. I have a silly question.

Do you check engine oil on running side or stopped side?

Stopped says full. Running says middle range. Just making sure I'm not missing anything.

Is the tractor running or stopped? I always check oil at the start of the day, with engine off, and the oil is cold.

Reads full cold. Low running. That is why I'm asking this question. I was a little confused.

Thanks!

The dipsticks on those engines were made so you COULD check the oil when at operating temperature on the level while IDLING.  More of a gen set or irrigation pump application. You have no reason to do it that way !!!  Check it cold, sitting still and not running.
