Will any of the bottom end of an HD9 work or interchange with a bottom on the AC HD 11TH?  I have access to a donor HD9 that is missing its radiator but the bottom is very nice.  I also have sourced an HD 11G that has a worn bottom link height gone and rollers worn.  So was hoping that the 9 bottom could go on the 11G.  Any insights are greatly welcome! Smile ~ Orangeman

The rails will interchange, as will rollers on the earlier HD 11, don't know if they went heavier duty on later models. They may have used a larger bolt on HD 11, but I don't think so.

Hi Ray54:  Thanks for posting that!  I know at one time AC offered heavy duty rollers for the HD series of crawlers. Am assuming all the track gear for the HD9 and HD 11 were built in Springfield.   ~  Orangeman

All the rollers were rebuildable, and interchangeable as a whole. The earlier variants were roller bearings and the later were sleeve, or bronze bearings which seemed to work better and didn't really leak near as much. The interiors of the rollers differed so not convertible from one style to the other.

Yes, HD-9, and HD-11 were built in Springfield as was anything HD-5 and up till Fiat came into the mix. Only HD-9 tractors I seen that were new at the plant were orange agriculture tractors. With HD-11, there were a mix, but mostly construction yellow with push blades.

The undercarriage parts on the HD9 and HD11 aren't directly interchangeable. You might get lucky with some rollers or idlers, but the frames and other components have enough differences to make it a real pain. Better to find parts specific to the HD11 to avoid headaches.

The first model of HD 11 was just a HD 9 with the Buda engine swapped in for the DD 4-71, with what every gear changes because of engine RPM differences. I have cousin that farmed with a fleet of HD 9's. Picked up an early HD 11, got tired of the Buda and used the other parts on the HD 9's. I cannot say if they might have added a link or 2 to put more track on the ground, but the track parts links, pins, bushing, and pads were the same.

But do believe before the end of AC and HD 11 with more HP and weight they went to bigger tracks.
