anyone done something different with the ground for their headlights rather than the light frame tube to the tractor frame?  I am thinking of drilling out the rivet holding the headlight brass grounding strap and then re-rivet with a dedicated grounding wire?  maybe upgrade to LED headlight bucket?  FYI this would be used on both my WD and WD45.

so must not have searched very well and I just found this forum post: https://www.allischalmers.com/forum/wd45-headlights-not-working_topic169401.html looks like adding a separate ground to the reflector is the way to go.  anyone upgrade the socket to be a LED?

I put a sealed beam in the original mounting but it was only a halogen bulb.
It was a 4.5” round so I’m sure there is a led version.
I found a 1/4” air hose that I put around the outside of the bulb and the inside of the original clamp and it would keep everything tight.

I should be easy enough to run a second wire in the mount tube and have the extra ground completely hidden.
If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.

I did what Paul suggested a few years ago on my WD. Grounding is so important on these ole tractors. It will drive you crazy sometimes. I ran a new ground from each light bucket to the frame of the light bar. All hidden in the light tube, cleaned the ground area that the battery grounds to(2nd time) upgraded to 2/0 welding cable and all my issues disappeared. Old metal rusts and the ground doesn't work well.

I use a par 36 sealed beam and yes I kept the original clamp.
I had a high/low beam light in it for awhile with 3 wires running through the original pipe but than just ran the two wires for ground and high beam.
I can try to get a closer picture tomorrow but this is all I have right now.
