I'm looking at a B that my wifes uncle has, wf, hyd, woods mower, but it has hand brakes and i've never seen this before on a B. is this common?, factory?, aftermarket? i'll try to get pics and a serial number. i also has some type of bracket behind the seat and in front of the platform(foot rest). the front one has been adapted to take a cyl. for lifting the deck. i'm assuming that these are for hanging some type of mounted equip, cultivator maybe?
There are 3 ways to do job GOOD, FAST, CHEAP. YOU MAY CHOOSE 2. If its FAST & CHEAP it won't be GOOD, if it's GOOD & CHEAP it won't be FAST, and if its GOOD & FAST it won't be CHEAP!!!!

All my 38's and my 40B have or originally had hand brakes. My Grandfather's B has a mechanical lift for the mower and my 44C has hydraulics. The Bracket behind(?) the seat may be a rock shaft that was/is used to help keep the implement pushed toward the ground. the B's also had implements that could attach under the tractor (where the mower deck is). Pictures are always appreciated :-)

Allis started putting foot brakes on the B's in 1941 I belive along with the C's, The C's only had foot brakes for 1 year, 1940 was the first year that lights and starter were availible on the deluxe B, as they called it.

Does anyone know what the threads are on the hand break levers. I am trying to clean the up and want to run a die over them but can't find the correct size. The small locking levers are 1/2 13.

I would guess the brackets behind the seat are the lift arms for plows and the "bracket" under the foot rests is the drawbar for attachiing the plows.
It would have been nice if a set of two-way plows had come with the tractor.
