Does the 301s have a problem with the valves breaking the lips on the edge off?  When I bought this tractor 2 cylinders had broken valves. Rebuilt the engine , new sleeves pistons , had the head done , new valves in those holes. Around 150 hrs had a valve go bad. Shop put the intake and exhaust in the wrong holes, had that fixed. Saturday night started skipping . Pulled head today #5 intake half of the lip gone #4 intake cracked . Not sure the hrs since last repair. Going to have all new valves put in this time. Tiered of doing this.          THanks for any input.

Are your injectors bad? Bad injectors can cause combustion chamber problems.

Our 7000 lost one once. I don’t remember it doing the damage loosing one on the 8050 did. At one point it was worked fairly hard so somewhat understandable.

as mentioned above, injectors faulty or installed wrong if Ambac or Bosch injectors, or inj pump timing can be off a long way. It's usually a poor state of tune that causes failures like this.
