Talking with local parts guys, buying stuff for the pickup project, guy comes in has a Hydrovac off his Dad’s 75 Loadstar. Gets explained no one is rebuilding around here anymore and exchange units no longer exist as usable cores have all but dried up. Suggested he try on the net as they can no longer help him.
Bendix, Wagner and none of us could remember the third name, perhaps Midland, no longer make new or replacement castings for the old ones. Edited by DMiller - 27 Feb 2024 at 10:28am |

Find "White Post Restorations" Located in White Post Va. they rebuild anything to do with hydraulic brakes. Also if you get a "Hemmins Motor News" it lists a bunch of places that rebuild HydraVacs. That's the problem with parts places today, if they don't know about it, they have no idea. Even places that still have a few knowledgeable people, management doesn't want anything to do with slow moving items. It's all about the fast buck.

If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY |

I was told that the replacement parts are only available to the reman “factories”, not the clutch/brake shops or the average Joe.

We have a guy up here in Hamilton, Ontario that still does them. Stewart brake. We used to ship ones out of the shop to him. Did a great job but probably too much shipping and hassle for you guys. But if really stuck maybe???

Unfortunately the old guy that just knew everything has passed but the rest of the staff was pretty good last time I talked to them.

May be good but not miracle workers and cores that can be rebuilt are distressingly NA. The ones that get sent there MAY be able to be rebuilt but if not due to corrosion then they have to pass. Called to make certain.

That's how I knew mine was bad but it was so bad that it buried truck in white cloud after holding pedal for about 5 seconds. Sucked it through manifold. |
