 Topic: Certificate of Origin

Hi all,
I am working on moving an FH820 forklift from Ontario, Canada, to South Dakota, and I need to find a USMCA Certificate of Origin that certifies where the forklift was built.Attached are a couple of pics--the serial plate seems to show both a built location in Illinois and in the UK and there is no year of manufacture on the plate.
Anybody have any ideas?

I'm making some assumptions based on the info in the bottom two lines of the tag. Looks like it was built for AC by Lancer Boss LTD located in the city of Leighton Buzzard which is in the county of Bedfordshire England. Assuming again it was shipped to the Allis engine plant in Harvey, Illinois. Probably used to move heavy castings and other things around the plant. I'm sure someone on here has brought equipment across the border and will give you some good advice. Steve

I think you are being sucked into a vortex of government red tape, over an untitled piece of used equipment. My advice would be to ask whomsoever is asking you for this paper why? It doesn't have a title, because its not a road vehicle, never was. Might want to talk to someone who knows import/export law...

Now there's a serious Forklift! Looks like that was designed to lift buildings. That should say "Santa Fe" on it. LOL! Nice machine! Hope you get the red tape straightened out on it. She's a biggin'!

I would guess it has more to do with meeting saftey standards than it does titled/untitled vehicles. However I think you're hitting the nail on the head about gooberment red tape.

Maybe it's just me but it seems a piece of equipment ( and a big piece at that) made that long ago doesn't have a snowballs chance in h e l l of meeting safety laws today. I think they are trying to figure out how to get some tax money out of your wallet.

Allis been gone since 1984, Lancer since 94, do not see any method of deriving a Cert of Origin for that.

I think I would contact the Company in the link I provided. They advertise they have been in business for over 32 years and have sold equipment in to over 50 country's.
Seems they could advise on Cross Border Shipping.

Why not involve someone who does this daily? I bought a grainhead in Ontario in 2019 I asked the dealer about the border he said for them it’s no problem but a private individual is hit or miss. Covid delayed trucking a bit but all in all went smoothly. Dealer has trucks in the states regularly.
