I have collected AC tractor literature for a few years and have wondered how to determine what year the literature was printed. Some manufacturers dated their literature, but the material that I have is not. My concern is how do I determine which piece of literature is for a 1962 tractor versus a 1959 tractor, understanding that there were differences and improvements made to the products. Do the numbers on the back page lower portion of the page mean anything?

Most AC literature was dated on the back....you just had to be able to cipher it.....5810 would have meant October 1958.

DrAllis could you print more dates for the code?? I have a bunch of lit from the 60s, 70s, and 80s but none show a print date.

I'm looking at a piece of One-Sixty literature on the back page "Printed in USA/7103" means March 1971........One-Seventy lit on back page "FE616/677" means Farm Equipment lit #616/ July 1967........ 185 lit "AED-359/7312" means Ag Equip Division #359/Dec 1973.............6080 and 6060 lit "AED 836-8202" means Feb 1982.......not every piece has a date, but many of them do and you need to have a clue of AC history as to what the numbers mean.

Just goes to show what one learns on this forum. I am an Allis Chalmers Dealer's son and handled and stamped literature for my father and NEVER knew this. WOW!! No wonder I enjoy this site.
Merry Christmas to all!
Good Luck!

Thank you Dr.! That really is a simple code, but I never put it together. Now I have a project to study on sometime.
