 Topic: D17 fuel gauge leaks

I just bought a series 1 D17 gas. Moving it around and trying out the 500 loader I noticed it was wet under the fuel gauge. The gauge is mounted with allen head screws. What is the best way to fix this ? Thanks Joe

I used the large fuel bowl gasket with the white thread sealer on it on my D 14 over 10 years ago n its still dry

I used an 'O' ring under the last leaking gauge and hasn't leaked since. But that has been only a year or so ago. So it is in experiment mode for now, only time will tell how it will perform.

I just replaced the gasket under the gauge on my series 1 diesel a few months ago after I painted the tractor. It hasn’t leaked. Make sure the tank lip is clean and free of paint chips. The gasket has to have a smooth clean surface in order to properly seal.

I think DJ's also has the gasket. I replaced the gauge and gasket on mine a couple years ago.

I have had four D series tractors now, replaced, or need to replace that gasket on every one of them! They leak almost as bad as sediment bowls.

It has to be a neoprene gasket. As mentioned above, easily available through DJS, Steiners and AGCO. I have replaced all of mine already. After almost 60 years, they usually need it.
