I have an Allis Chalmers G, 1948 and the battery needs to be replaced. Looking at the battery box it seems that the only way to get the old battery out and a new one in is to remove the sheet metal on the right side. Am I missing something??

On my G tractor the front of the battery box is separate piece that can be removed to allow the battery to come out the front.  Mine is a 1948 also.

I have a 1949 G, and you have to remove the fender to remove the battery.   Rick

Red top 6 bolt battery can be installed and you do not have to remove anything but the top cover.
