d-19 hi-low range

my hi-low range lever is leaking oil, whats required to fix

those "O Rings" are no picnic - some on here have the ability remove the side plate, to loosen the setscrews on the shaft and slide it to the left then right the retighten w/o losing the hi-pro key - we always just split 'em and replace anything needed inside. (especially if it will not stay in high range when cold)

Remove the P.D. hand lever setscrew and nut on the right side. Push and pull on the P.D. lever until it is broken free from the cross shaft. It shouldn't take heat but penetrating oil could help. Replace the setscrew temporarily, pull the lever all the way back into low range, and again remove the setscrew, P.D. hand lever and all washers from the cross shaft. Remove the heat shield from the left side and then the snap ring and all washers from the cross shaft. All D-19's have two woodruff keys inside the torque housing and when placed in low range they are straight up at 12 oclock. With a hammer, tap the cross shaft each way just enough to expose the Oring on the other side. So, we are talking only about 3/4" moving the shaft sideways each way. Remove old Orings and roll on new ones from AGCO with oil on them and reassemble. Once that nasty heat shield is removed from the left side, I can do one of these in 10 minutes or less. DO NOT move the shaft any farther than needed to remove an old O ring and the woodruff keys inside will never fall out of place. D-17's prior to series 3 have a setscrew inside instead of keys. D-14's also setscrew internally. Don't remember what D-15 has. but think it has keys too.
