Had a great day square baling today with my brothers, nephew, and our good friend Gary(Mutt) who was our driver. Baled 438 bales of some really nice hay. Mutt hasn’t run a square baler in a good while but you would have never known it. He hasn’t forgotten a thing and in no time he was aboard the Mighty XT knocking out one windrow after another. I was telling my brother while we was stacking bales that his motto must be “leave no hay behind”..lol. He made precise turns and was grinning ear to ear driving my XT. I asked him if he wanted ear plugs and he said heck no, I love hearing that straight pipe! Thanks ACMutt for helping us out today. I hope you enjoyed it as much we did.

Some other reasons he was grinning: Console control levers......where the throttle is located.....suspended clutch and brake pedals.......high platform.......tapered sloping hood.......shiny paint !!!!.....the sound of a turbocharged 301 engine !!

Those are the very reasons I really like my XT Doc. I think it was the best tractor for baling hay when it came out and for many years to come. I would rather use it than any other tractor on our farm. I just love the looks and how she performs.

Great looking 190 and NH baler - and a great drying hay day! Congrats on the 190 restoration, and keeping the baler in great shape as well Brings back memories, especially the view from the rear, of building loads behind our 185 and a NH275. Back in the day we would fill two barns with 25,000 bales. Lots of help, cousins visiting, kept us busy Hope your good weather continues to get the hay in

And those are the reasons I am torn sharing duties between the XT and the 200 on my behalf, but Ian loves that 7030 for bailing not me…

Appreciate the complements, it’s been 6 years since I went through her and painted. She has been trouble free and I love running it. Dad bought the baler slightly used in the 70’s. It’s always been stored inside and consistently operates like a Singer sewing machine. Great combination for the 190, D17, D15 or the 6060. WD does well with it also. I really enjoy hay season.

Hard to beat a 6000 series for cutting, raking, and square baling.

Our 6060 is a nice tractor no doubt, but it doesn’t have the appeal to me like the 190 does. Everyone has their favorite tractor, my XT is a brute for its size, has the great console control, and its hydraulic system is far superior to our 6060, but is nimble and does so many things well.

Put up a lot of hay for my dairy cows in early 60's with a late WD & New Holland square baler.
