 Topic: D10 Brakes

I have the Left D10 axle housing off because of no brakes, there was nothing but grease in there. I think they will clean up ok and the shoes have plenty of material but is there supposed to be a seal for the axle? I don't see one.

When you find out that degreasing the material doesn't work like a person thinks it should...contact me...I can reline your brakes for you for both sides for 100.00, plus shipping of 17.10, but I'll need your cores first...Rick

... and when Rick gets done with them, they will be better than any aftermarket brakes you can buy anywhere.

Thanks, Curt! I appreciate the gesture...was trying to point out the fact that most degreaser sprays don't dry the material or get all of the oil/grease out...just superficial and will keep seeping through the material, just to have the same problem again and again. Been there and done that myself. The only thing I have ever seen that dried out the brakes real good, is to put them in a hot tank degreaser for a good while and then they MIGHT dry them out, if they're not too saturated in the oil. That stuff is trying to be outlawed though, because being so hazardous and harmful to breathe...Trychlorethylene...very nasty stuff!!!

I am thinking about it but I am going to have to figure out how to support the tractor with no rear wheels on it.

You have to do one side at a time. If you remove both axles, you will drop the bull gear in the rear end, then your brake job suddenly became much bigger.
