Curiosity question: This is a pic of the loader bucket on my 417 series loader. Purchased it used a few years ago. To me it seems like a lot of bucket for this frame and its been welded all over the place. Has it been "added on to" by previous owner? He's dead, can't ask.   [FILE=uploads/7031/20221019_165308_2022-12-16_15-49-22.jpg]

Seeing a number of buckets over the years on older farm equipment, MOST were designed for Lighter grainier as in straw in manure shoveling.  Many did not get the volumes they desired so adapted buckets from larger tractors to increase speed of barn floor cleanup.

The excess welds you note are probably from trying to use one of these Loose Materials buckets like a loader tractor would in rock or sand or even settled piles of dirt.
