I found this poor CA in a junkyard in Bloomington, IN yesterday.  Still
may have a few usable parts on it.

Price?
I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

Any junk yard around here say they can’t sell it once it goes over the scale. Sad

local yard here, it'd be X2 the incoming scale weight. That's MORE than what they get to resell  'up the line'....

I got a 6by10 tandem dump trailer that way.
guy said it weighs 2000#, I paid $100 a ton..so for $200 I bought the trailer...
I've put about $300 into it ovet the past 10+ years... it's haul 100s of 4 yd loads of ponypoop and scrap TO the yard....

I talked to the scrap yard dude at bowling tonight.  He says the CA would go for
current scrap rates.  So at roughly 2000 pounds he'd probably want around $600.

I'm a lot 'rusty' on pulling base metal commodity market prices but here was a quick grab that gives more of an indicator it's not the "$250/ton" range any longer.

Geez, the sheetmetal still looks pretty straight up front. Tank, hood grille shell. Left rear fender makes a left turn, but they doesn't look like they dropped anything on the hood yet. The four speed trans if its good has gotta' be worth $200. Might be able to snatch that up for a duece.. Like the guys mentioned, lottsa' good parts on that yet....

I think the SCRAP price today is in the $200. range for misc steel... That being said, most scrap yards will RESELL their scrap to you, but about DOUBLE what they paid for it.

JS graph above is probably NEW sheet and NEW rebar price.

the well known yard here prices cars at xxx per METRIC ton(2200 #) !!! Everyone elses price is based on a real ton (2000#)....
The other 'gotcha' is the price taken OFF for EACH tire/rim INCLUDING the spare. It only takes the 'rimguy' less than 10 minutes to 'detire' a set of 4.....gets $4 for tire, $$$$$ for alum rims
