Did ALLIS "manufacture" the lawn tractors back in the day, or were they farmed out and re-badged ?

I believe it was around 1961 when my father sold his first Allis Chalmers Model B-1 Garden Tractor at his Dealership. It wasn't long after that Allis bought out the Simplicity Manufacturing Co. but continued with the Simplicity Brand name. G |

simplicity built the yellow models B1 through B212 then allis built those 300s and 400s and back to simplicity for 700s and 900s.
I think that’s how it went.

seems you might be the one to ask....just got a 912 hydro, last of the AC lawn tractors. Any way to get attachments for these? Blade snow blower ext. has a solid 42" deck but would like a 48".

Originally, Simplicity was contracted to build the first L&G tractors for AC. All of the B-series AC L&G tractors have a Simplicity twin with slightly different sheet metal, badging, and colors. AC bought Simplicity late 60s/early 70s but until the Fed anti-trust/monopoly issue was settled, both were kept separate. The 300/400 series AC L&G tractors were made by AC in their own new plant and do not have any Simplicity model counterparts. The issues were resolved by the mid-70s and all L&G manufacturing (both AC and Simplicity) returned to the Simplicity plant with Simplicity a fully recognized subsidiary of Allis-Chalmers. When AC's financial problems really kicked in during the early 80s, Simplicity was 1 of the first divisions sold off to it's own management team and investors but they still made L&G tractors for AC, then DA, and even AGCO later.
