Anyone have dealings with this?
Mine has always been on the low side but the last couple of months I knew somethings was off. I had a checkup in September, blood work and all that and was fine. BP was a little high then but not much. I have been checking it periodically here at home lately and it has been getting up there. Went to the doc this morning and it was pretty high so she gave me some meds to see how it does. My dad had a stroke at about what my age is now. I know how he felt prior to that and how it essentially did him in. It took awhile but it stemmed from that. I was paying attention then and now. Cholesterol and all the happy chit is fine on my end in September. Blood work done again today to make sure. |

Have had high bp for about 10 yrs now. Doc started me on a low dose of Lisinopril(sp), controlled the bp, but side effect was a dry cough(very common side effect). Switched to Lasoritin(sp), cough went away, but knelling down then standing back up would get slightly wobbly legs for a second or so. Started taking additional nutritional supplements, and herbal remedies, have bp controlled to satisfy the DOT.

I take meds for high blood pressure. Doc started me on Lisinopril but the coughing was horrendous. Not a mild cough, a violent cough. Coughed so much I lost my voice. Coughed so hard sometimes I almost blacked out. Coughing 24/7 and I was suffering from sleep deprivation. Got him to switch me over to losartran. The first dosage was too high. Got headaches and sinus aches. I cut the dosage in half and now it is tolerable. Not sure why they always start with lisinopril. They must get a bonus for prescribing it. The third alternative is warfarin, but it conflicts with just about everything and requires regular frequent blood testing. No thanks. Doc also wanted to put me on a blood thinner Eloquis. But it costs $1000/month. Not going to happen. Instead I take an 81mg aspirin every day. My blood pressure is way down, normal and has been doing good for over a year. |

Years ago my Dr had me on Lisinopril . After a few months I developed a cough. He said it was the Lisinopril and he was exactly right . Seemed crazy to me at the time . That's why he makes the big bucks I guess

Just don't ignore the problem. Have a friend that was prescribed meds for blood pressure and for whatever reason decided not to take them. Had a stroke at work and is paralyzed on one side and in a wheelchair now. She is 50 years old. I have been on meds for 25 years, good stuff.

Hey Fixer,,be careful with that BP, it can go south in a heartbeat,,,(No Pun Intended) Be on the look out on a bad cough that most people develop with the Lisinopril, I did to and it went away soon as my Cardiologist changed my meds,,,! Stay safe Buddy,,,,!!

I have been on blood pressure meds for close to 20 years. The Doc started me on free sample of what ever was the new latest and greatest at the time. After several years started getting leg cramps at night. Several years later insurance company took it upon themselves to change my meds to cheaper ones. The leg cramps have all but gone away.
There are lots and lots of blood pressure meds, so any side effects that could be related get the Doc to try something else. I had not put the cramps with the meds till they changed. I had major gallbladder trouble back in 16, with 2 or 3 stays before they finally removed it. But my heart got out of wake. Had a heart Doc check things when I was in hospital. He put me on more meds. After a year he put a monitor on me for 2 weeks and all was good. Says until other things come up I don't need his doctoring. Which was good as my dad had pace maker put in in his 70's. So as others have told watch it and take the meds. Or stop eating until your skin and bones. Because there are studies that say ever 10 pounds you loss is one point lower BP.

Not saying it will work for you and not pushing it but CBD oil
Dropped mine to an acceptable level. I can’t stand the taste or the idea of using it but it worked. It’s quite expensive but lasts a long time. |

I took my first pill yesterday at noon when I got home. Feel better this morning than I have in along time. I'm going to see what the long term effects are. Me and meds don't get along most of the time, not because I don't want to take it but disagreeable side effects.
Thad I have tried CBD and they even sell it at my pharmacy. It wasn't that impressed but if it works for some that's great. This med cost $1.62

FWIW.... get rid of STRESS !! Not saying it is THE problem(the body is complicated..) but... ...BP goes UP when your stressed, something everyone knows but usually won't change the situation to REDUCE the stress. There's a lot of stress in everyone's lives, more so in the past 2 years ad the 'stuff' going on today so it's important to 'chill out' ,'smell the roses', 'lay back' and relax, if only for a little while.

Get a sleep study. Sleep Apnea is a major cause of raised BP and many Drs ignore it. Mine did. Damn near killed me with meds. Had my heartbeat down to 50 bpm and my blood oxigenation was down to 50% at times during sleep. Ask questions. If he/she doesn't like it find another Dr.

I have high blood pressure too. Common for older people sadly. My doc says some of it is hereditary. Good diet helps as well and exercise. I try to do some of that but am on meds as well and that has worked for me. Have blood pressure issues in my family. Way before covid was invented. LOL! Keep in mind many of us are living a bit longer now. Years ago many died that now can live a bit longer with some meds and common sense. I'm 72 and feel pretty good so far.

I've been on Lisenopril for several years, 10mg every morning. I was warned by the Doc to be alert for a cough, so far it hasn't happened. I do get a Lisenopril cough on occasion, I can tell because it's a dry type cough that's different, only cough once or twice then nothing for months. I figure if I keep my weight in check it will continue to work, and my heart stuff is hereditary also.

Have been taking hydrochlorothiazide for a few years now as had swelling on one ankle and it also helps with BP . Went in to see Nurse Practitioner on one visit and said BP was high and gave me a prescription with Lisinopril - took it for about 4 days and one day driving truck I got so dizzy and weak I had to quit . Checked BP when I got home and it was so low I wondered IF I was going to survive the day .
Stopped taking the combo drug and it took over a week to get back to normal BP Around 5 years back had DOT physical and examiner restricted me to 1 year health card , then next year removed it so back on 2 year now - seems BP was high on that one visit . |

That is a problem. BP can fluctuate widely. One reading doesn't mean a lot. It takes multiple readings over time to come up with a meaningful average. I can get very different readings from different doctor offices on different days. I find it most useful to take readings daily at the same time. I always sit for 10-20 minutes before taking the reading. Don't take readings right after eating. |

Doctor assitant put me on Lisinoril and it made my tongue swell, I was Alergic to it so they put me Lasartan and my ears ring, doctor finally took me off Lasartan and ears are still ringing. If I go to the doctor after lunch my blood pressure is okay. Think it's the morning coffee. This all happened before the Covid came around and I have had all 3 shots and has changed my blood pressure.

I'd be willing to say that his HBP is due to "underlying family hereditary trait" ?? What's his diet, what does he drink, smoker ?? Let us know !! Well, What were his "symptom's" of his "COVID" ailment ??

I have not ever been on BP Meds, always been UNDER 130/80 regardless time of day or day of week, EXCEPT when dealing with wife or inept people in service sector, or my Allis machines Then I got the Jabs, both initial and then the COVID. Well I did have a DOT Physical just weeks after the jabs, BP was UP to 145/95, nearly failed physical, made me sit patiently for fifteen minutes then retook, under 140/85 so passed. After COVID Had a visit with doc as to the never ending Sinus Drainage that is so typical of Omicron, had a sinus Infection so got meds, BP was still higher than normal but closer to MY normal at 135/82, weight was back DOWN and stress has been less of late so she chalked that up for that. I have NOT EVER EVEN CONSIDERED a Third Jab, had the Virus have better NATURAL antibodies so could give a Rats Butt as to a Third or fourth or any additional jabs, NOT gonna happen.
