    Posted: 27 Feb 2022 at 1:28pm

I am in the process of getting ready to doing some testing on the power steering system suggested by Dr. Allis to figure out what the issue might be with the ON again/ Off again status of the  power steering. I have removed the tubing line from discharge off the pump going to the Ram (cylinder?) to test the pump discharge pressure first
I sorely need a copy of drawing for this system as I have (temporarily) misplaced the D14 book that I had once  upon a time,,,,, Chit,,I've spent more time this morning looking for that DANG book and I NEED SOME HELP,,,,!!!
Anybody got a copy,,,??? Many Thank You's in advance,,,,,

Line #4 is the pressure/feed line.

Dr. Allis,,I finally had to remove the whole pressure/feed line as I could not move it over enough to screw in my test line with the 2000 pressure gauge,,,talk about close confines and with my big old hands,,,, made it even a tighter fit,,,,
I didn't have much luck in The Alien Town today finding the inverted flair fittings I need to make a line that will screw into the pump, with a short length of tubing and a connection to go to the 1/8" NPT on the back of the pressure gauge. I may wind up using the factory pressure line as I can turn it around and then locate a fitting the will adapt from the 3/8" male flair fitting to the 1/8" NPT gauge,,,,clear as mud,,,,,?? Chit, I ain't sure my own self,,,,,LOL

Inverted flare fittings are tough to work with.

Hey Jay,,Many Thanks  for your help,,,,That print is exactly what I needed,,,I dislike not knowing what the different parts are called and The routing of the oil kinda tells you what may be happening inside all them different pieces. I DO remember having a heck of a time setting the clearances on the Dang Ram Rack,,,,I had to do it over and over many times til it was according to the specs,,,, ain't looking forward to that chit again,,,,Wink

Go to auto supply or any one who makes hoses. They can make a short hose with almost any fitting you need                       MACK

Removing the frame rail will give you a whole lot more room to access the connections on the pump.

Well,,I never thought of that plan of attack,,Mack,, There happens to be an oilfield shop out in the Industrial Park that makes high pressure hoses that fixed me up with a 12" long hose with the correct fittings,,,,Now ,,here is where it gets "interesting",,,,
I fired the tractor up and the gauge shot to 600# and would ease up to 650# and back to 600# Shut engine off, and let set a few then started up again,,,still just 600#. I checked the reservoir level and it had gone down about 1" from yesterday PM,,,!!!! What the heck is going on??? where did all the oil in PS reservoir go,,,?? I re-fill reservoir, and recheck pump pressure and still just 600#,,, Just for kicks,,I check oil level in engine and,,,,and,,,I find a whole lot of hydraulic oil in engine all the way up on dipstick,,,!!!! I use a 5 gallon pail and drain oil from oil pan and there is a little OVER 4 GALLONS in engine,,!!  Question now is how is it getting into the engine oil pan,,,?? Only'ist way I can figure is thru the power steering pump, thru governor area and then into the front cover and into oil pan,,,????
When I was rebuilding the tractor,,,all those years ago,,,seems like I remember installing a new "seal" on the PS shaft that was very expensive,,,How else would the PS oil be getting into the engine oil pan,,,?????
I think I'm now gonna be needing to look at the internals of the PS pump,,?
I did look into DSeries4 suggestion on removing the side frame rail for better access and with the Front loader,,,,that right there is gonna be a BFJ in itself,,,,,
 JEEEEZE,,,,!!!!!Anyone got a magic wand,,,,,

Joe, i would not think the steering system held 4 gallons of oil ?  Seems like there must be more to the story ?  So if you have 600 psi, then does it steer ?  Where did the pressure go when it dont steer ?
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

Only 600 lbs with a dead-headed gauge ?? Pump has internal problems and is blowing oil thru the shaft seal into the engine. A good pump at half-throttle or more should make 1600 psi.

Well,,, I thought I posted on another thread that this "NO POWER Steering issue had been OFF and ON  for some time and the loss of oil in the PS reservior,,,I blamed it on a slow leak as I had noticed a small fluid leak for some time,,,,
I did drive the tractor after I got it all back together and did have "some" PS but was some hard to steer . There may also be an issue with the relief valve opening back to the reservoir as I did notice the reservoir  overflowed while I was driving it this PM,,,,?

Hey Dr Allis,,,,. That was kinda  what I was  thinking,,but was SURE hoping it was something else,,,,, That would explain the high fluid level in engine,,huh,,?

Looking like I got me a BFJ in just getting to the PS pump. I'm gonna have to make sure I can safely block up the front end loader to be able to remove the right side frame rail to get to the frigging pump,,,-049578948579606-12i=093ur`=[ jerovnq3h1bn90tu8 ***

I've taken several pumps off 14-15s and never removed frame. May be industrial frame is different.                   MACK

well,,I sure hope so, Mack,, Another indication that I was told the Industrials had was the 5 blade fan which this one does have. I did take a closer look at the front of the tractor this afternoon and looks like there are two long bolts bout 3/8" size that run the length of the pump BUT I could NOT even see the heads of the bolts from the front,,,,may have to remove the radiator to get to those bolts,,??
I did manage to look into AGCO Books and find all the PN's I may need to rebuild the pump. I'm gonna order the parts to rebuild the Relief valve also.
Who best to order these parts from,,??

Hey Thad,,I tried Zieglar Ag but all I could find on their parts section were caterpillar parts and no answer on phone,,,,
Tried " Aftermarket Express" web site and had a bit better luck as they did have the parts I wanted but they did not have the 5 pieces for the relief valve,,,and I ain't located them RV parts yet,,,,,,
We got one more day needing the front loader on the house shingles job, so I'm gonna leave tractor set til after the roofing job is done ,,,,

Joe I’ve got it about ironed out. Got the new tires on and wiring all working now.
It needs new seats.
Some ole boy shoehorned plastic boats on it. I’m think steel pan seats that won’t crack n break.
Had to work all last weekend, but got off early enough Sunday. To mess with it a bit.
