Well the B tractor I'm doing is ready for decals and now I have to get ready. The decals I have came from Tractor Supply with no instructions. I know that they are not the vinyl type and would like helpful advise on installing them. I'm a retired paperhanger of 40 years and hope that helps me but I still would like to hear about someone else's experience.

If they arn't the vinyl, they are the mylar type decals. Just peal the backing paper off, and apply like a sticker or stamp. Sometimes the large "Allis Chalmers" one won't turn out looking too nice with all the plastic around the letters. I went and got a vinyl decal for that one and replaced it.

Fred, Do you need to know where to apply them. If that is the case let me know I have a book with locations.
Let me know.
Good luck!

I'm pretty sure I know where they go as far as that goes. Thanks anyway. I'm not trying to make a show tractor but just want it to look nice so if I'm off an inch or two I'm not going to get upset.
I was just concern about the installation as far as getting the decals off the paper and onto the tractor. When I was working and screwed up a piece of wallpaper it wasn't mine and I always had plenty more to work with but I didn't screw them up too often.

I tape them across the top with masking tape to the tractor, then lift the decal up, start pulling the backing off and then press it back in place letting the masking tape help hold in place. Dave.

Thanks for all the good replys. I did it! No problem. It was a piece of cake.
I would have no problem doing it again and maybe that's an excuse to get another tractor.

I try and trim the mylar ones as close the the lettering as I can, they look a little better with out all the extra border showing. |

How about the ones that you soak in water and slide off the backing into place. I have a set of them that came with the B I bought in 1979.

Waterslide Decals? See here:
You do have to make some minor adjustments from the article, as most waterslide decals are used for scale models, and this is what they are describing in the article. But as far as I'm aware, they apply the exact same way.
