When did ND start putting the names of players on the jersey backs ?? I had to look twice yesterday during their embarrassing loss and was amazed . Once again, the rankings of a "prominent" team due to lack of competition (MICHIGAN comes to mind) comes back to bite

I think they started that about the time they decided to convert southern baptist to catholic so they could put together winning teams again.

You guys JUST don't get it  !! ND NEVER had names on the backs of jerseys for DECADES !! SIX of you should do some homework before belittling  (my bad, you guys can't survive without "stroking" the others plumage) . |

Well, if you'd actually look into yourself, instead of coming on here where apparently you don't like anybody anyway, you would see that the practice of names on the jerseys has come and gone many many times over the years. Depends on the coach mostly. Way back in Ara Parseghian they had names, then not, sometimes for bowl games but not the regular season.

It is because they have fallen prey to same belief they need to cater to the prima donna players who see themselves as stars vs part of a team. A recruiting tool.
Not unlike some of the teams that can muster 40 variations on their uniform.....but can't make it on 3rd and 1 from the 40......then field goal hits the upright and they lose by 2. But they got to feel good about the snazzy uniform they wore that day.
