If it runs, drives, and the sheet metal is in decent shape then yes, it's worth that all day. It looks like a paint job is all she needs.

That's all mine needs too! But I don't have the time or skill to paint it so I'm looking for someone to do it for me. I wish I could find someone who would do a good job and not charge an arm and a leg. But I guess beggers can't be choosers.

I like those unstyled WC's! I'm working on a WD right but I think my next one I might try to find a WC.
My advice on painting your's is work on it with your Grandpa, learn everything you can and you will make some memories. My Father inlaw and I are restoring my WD, I've learned alot from him and we've had some fun too.

No dollar amount can be placed on the time you and your grandfather get to spend together working on the orange, priceless.

A 1938 tractor that runs and does not look bad at all. As said above a paint job and it is going to be better than new. Flat top WC's are a very special tractor. They are the ones that made Allis Chalmers. They are the first tractor my father sold.Let us know how it goes.
Good Luck!

Yes...definately worth the money. And to work with grandpa? If you paid $12,000, you still did okay.

I'd say it was well worth it. If it runs and the sheet metal is decent you have a great tractor. It also appears that the tires are in excellent shape. That's almost always the deciding factor for me.

If it runs and you are happy with it -- yes, it's worth it. If you can get your Grandfather to help you paint it and teach you how to do the next project --- priceless. Sure wish I had that kind of opportunity. Love the unstyled WC's. My "Matilda" has a special place in the barn. Enjoy yours.

Make the time to spend with your grandpa, no matter if you're working on orange or not. Ask questions that you want the answer to. Get some history of your family and the things that your grandad has done and seen. That is worth more than you know now, but will realize later. Take it from some of us who wish we still had grandpas to spend time with. One of mine has been gone since 1996, the other passed last April. Didn't get to spend nearly enought time or learn nearly enough from either one.

I didn't do it! It was a short, fat, tall, skinny guy that looked like me!

That sounds just like my papaw. He is 70 years old and can out work a 25 year old. This year was the first time I managed to get him to the tractor show and I could tell he liked it. He has a talent of making anyone who is around him look stupid on a daily basis.

I enjoy working with my pap on stuff too. He has IH"s and a JD A (I have the chalmers) but at least I know how to work on his stuff and see stuff torn apart that you only see in books. Makes a big difference when you see it in person and not just in a parts book.
