Putting a new wiring harness in the B today and noticed that the gas tank was really starting to leak on the bottom.  There is a place where it has been repaired in the past with an external application.  Looks like JB Weld.  I removed the tank and noticed that there are no soft pads on the lower support bracket.  A further inspection of the inside of the tank revealed allot of rust and a very bumpy corroded black surface.  I think it might be to my advantage to just replace the tank with another used one.  Just need to find one.  Anyone know where there is a good place to buy a used tank for a reasonable price?

If there are no local tractor salvage yards there are 3 different guys from WI who are constantly tearing down Allis tractors and putting parts on e-bay.

How about fixing the existing tank?

I've used this on three tanks with great results.

I repaired a gas tank on a garden tractor with a fuel tank repair kit from the local auto parts store.  You could consider it temporary until a replacement tank is found........FWIW
Why is there never time to do it right the first time, but always time to go back and fix it?

Use blue coat, it will seal the leak plus coat the inside of the tank.    MACK

Empty and wash out tank real well to make sure there are no residual gasoline vapors. Clean the area to repair; a little blaster works best. Mix up some epoxy and apply to the area. Look over the interior of the tank too, it may need a tank sealer applied. Sand and paint it while it's off the tractor. DONE!

I taped up all the holes on a tank with black electrical tape (after cleaning like Brad said) and then used POR 15, like Stan said. After it cured, pulled off the tape and used JB Weld to fill in the pits and smoothed it out, Been 10 yrs, tank still holding like a champ.
