Trying to figure out how to get the tach working on my 7050. Does it run off the alt, if so I have changed the alt to a chevy alt. The old one did have an extra wire hook-up on the rear but nothing was hooked to it. The tach hasn't worked since I have owned the tractor. I can't find anything in the shop manual on it. |

The old alt was a delco and had 3 spade terminals and a stud terminal. The alt I put on it was a delco but it only had 2 spade terminals and a stud terminal. The shop manual does not show any wiring diagrams and the only delco alt it shows is the one that is on the tractor now. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for this tractor? And maybe know where I can buy a rebuild kit for my old alt.

the wiring diagram is in the operators manual. The correct alternator has two spades, one large stud and one small stud with no threads, the small stud with no threads is the tach pickup termainl, the tach counts the sine waves off one terminal on the rectifier bridge. There should be a small brown wire coming out of the harness with a terminal and black round insulator that pushes onto the small stud. HTH
