I'm not sure of the model of this but I would like any information that anyone could give me on it or their experiences using one any tips or tricks would be much appreciated! Thanks Matt

That is the only rake we had on the farm. 1950 to 1975. It worked really well.

Heavy hay they will run sideways, down the road with any speed, they will swing back and forth across the road. MACK

Hunt4, I am not familiar with your hay rake but looks like you have a spring house there in the background of one picture. I just always thought they were an interesting bit of history and have a small collection of pictures of such.

we used david bradley hay rakes like that they done a good job as for going down the road in road gear they were just fine if you tighend up the set screw in the bake of the crazy wheel spindles and loosened them once back in the field

Started raking hay at about age 8.....dragging around an IH rake like that. We also had a similar JD, which was no better. I seem to recall it plugging up a lot. As I understand it, those were the 1st generation side delivery rakes, which replaced the older horse drawn dump rakes. Compared to a dump rake, those must have seemed like a miracle invention.
But then our IH and JD rakes were replaced by a NH 258 roll-a-bar style, which was 1,000% improvement again. I'm still using a NH 256.

The neighbors had one just like it when I was a kid except theirs had metal wheels on the back. It was from the late 1930s or early 40s I think.

Well I picked it up way cheaper than any newer modern one I could find and I'm sure it will work, the guy I bought it off of said his family used it his entire life and made hay with it

It's way nicer than the one I had a couple hours ago ( nothing)!!!
Now I've got a Allis Chalmers 80t sickle bar mower to cut with and this to rake with...
I know there's a lot better equipment out there but for our small operation I'm sure it will do just fine along with my 1950 Allis Chalmers b, 1953 Allis Chalmers CA, 19 59 Allis Chalmers d17! I need a bigger building 😜🤔😝

I do have one question the engage disengage portion of the lever that engages the bars when the ground Wheels turn seems like it has three different positions to horizontal and one vertical what's the difference between the settings, it is a four bar rake?

The good never have a flat tire with that rake. If your on flat ground might be Ok. But here where everything is leaning the 2 wheel rakes very soon replace all the 4 wheel type no matter what brand.

In the other position to put them in gear it will run backwards and you were suppose to be able to ted with it. My grandfathers rake still had the seat from when you pulled them with horses, Grandpa and myself would trade positions and ride on the rake when I was little and learning to rake hay.

Biggest thing to keep in mind that it is not a high-speed rake. You shouldn't travel very fast with it. Keep it greased and don't rake in road gear and it should do a good job.

Okay thanks for the info, keep any tips or literature coming about it. I would love to know what model it is so I could further learn more about it...
I will definitely go slow with it I don't have that much hay to rake so I'll just take my time. I don't know how old this thing is but the steel spoke wheels and square head bolts on it make me believe it's very old but everything on it seems to work. The guy always stored it inside under roof. It has a ton of grease fittings on it which is good!
Can anyone point me in a direction to buy new rims and tires for it? One holds air slightly the other is completely dry rotted and the rim is bad
