Just fixing up the seat frame on my 1940 Allis B and noticed that it seems really low when it’s mounted on the tractor. I was looking at some pictures of other tractors and it seems like some had taller angle iron to get the seat height up. Is everyone welding brackets or using taller angle iron to get the seat height up? The original angle iron mounts are only about 1-1/2 x 1-1/2”. Thanks

I believe B's with foot brakes have higher height seats.
Is yours a hand brake B? |

It appears to be a foot brake model.

Jon, i have several B tractors and some have the LOW seat and some have the HIGH seat. I dont know why. Never studied it enough to see if it was due to year change / before war / after war / brake location / rock shaft location / or what... I dont think this was "modified".. the HIGH ones it have are all the same and factory paint.

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

Great info Steve thanks. I really appreciate you responding to my posts helping me make a little more sense of things. Tell your friends I’m still missing the camshaft plunger! Haha thanks again. I’ll probably run the lower seat since it is original until I get sick of staring through the steering wheel.

Could someone tell me the angle iron dimensions for the taller B seat and the overall seat frame width? Thanks

seat frame is 28.5 inches wide.. Multiple holes so you can slide back or forward mount.
