That is cool. I have heard about them but never seen one. Nice that it has front and rear suspension. That will be a fun project. Keep pictures coming as I want to see how it turns out.
Great find |

5 hp MPH ? Early 70's Mfg by Gilson in Plymouth, WI Not sure of the auction, Gary did the bidding. Looks like it was in really good shape until it had a fire in the Carb area.

I had a chance to buy a new one but the kids were 2-6 at the time and we lived in town. Wished I would have bought it and put it in the oil ware house.

As I recall from the early 70's, I believe Allis had two models of a mini-bike. One was a "deluxe" model. Don't remember all of the differences, but one had larger tires. I see yours has a headlight which I think was also one of the differences between the models. I also don't remember who manufactured them for AC. Seems like one had a 5 HP engine with the other being slightly larger.

i have the trail bike which has taller wheels/tires and looks more like a dirt bike. Best place to get parts is oldminibikes.com They bring good money fixed up or not. i was lucky enough to save my original seat and get it running its is pretty original. Ebay has new decal kits for them. I know the clutch covers are hard to find and you still got yours so that is good. Have fun

Mike Baraboo GOTO 2022 Brian, The research I have done, there were three models, 4 hp, 5 hp with the spoked wheels, and 5 hp deluxe which had headlight, taillight, chrome fenders, belt cover, handlebar and front end, and the exhaust pipe. Gilson in Plymouth, WI manufactured the mini bikes. dpower, Thanks, found that website there is a lot of good info there. Gary is working with a mini bike collector that has parts also. |

I redid a 1971 Rupp last winter. Lot's of info out there. No it's not the correct color scheme for the bike but I like it and my Grandkids will keep it! Good luck and have fun!

The old Gibson's had the chrome "ape hanger" handlebars. They were the "cool" thing in the 70's! Nice complete bike! Should turn out be a nice resto. Don't forgit' the pics as you go along. I'm sure all of us would love to see the progress!

I was wondering if anyone knows where I could have a chance finding the stock exhaust pipe for this minibike? Your assistance is much appreciated. Edited by Randy_Larson - 16 Oct 2022 at 12:16pm |

Randy, The exhaust pipes are very hard to find I'm told. Do not know of any for sale. Here is ours finished. I'll have to round up some photos of the restoration. ![]() |

Hi Paul can you tell me where you purchased the seat? I am restoring a Gilson and I am in need of that same exact seat.
I did take your word and I sent my Chrome off to Custom Plating in Brillion. Not cheap but I think they do good work -
Thanks! Scott Edited by geronimopilot - 25 Jun 2024 at 12:39pm |
