found a rare 718 with overhead valves.. kind of rough but runs and has no issue with valve seats. Customer wants 800,,,,

Is your 718 a member of the larger 716 and 720 Series or is it a member of the smaller 710 and 712 Series? G |

I overhauled my 718H last year it cost me around 1500 to do. I did everything to it new piston valves rod and all machine work.

what about balance gears and shafts ? it seems to me that if they are not replaced on those old k engines they just dont last that long any more now that they have a zillion hours on the blocks and cranks

The 718, 716, 712 and 710 are all the same size (Kohler singles). The 616/620/720 are the larger Powermax (Onan twins).

718's have a collector following, but I can't see $800 for even a decent one. I got $700 for the one I had, but it was an extremely nice, all orginal, good running machine, with deck and optional rear lift. Took me a couple weeks to sell, too.

A few years ago I bought a 720 that the engine had been replaced. It's got a loader on it, I use it a fare amount.

when the balance gear bearings go out,--it usually breaks the mounting pin off! --got several here runnin without gears in them! LOL!
