No surprise. Health care costs have been rising for decades, ever since the gooberment inserted themselves in that market.

I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

If he had BCBS that's not surprising, they'll settle on $30.

Well no , of course they were. And now, how much "good" did '08 and beyond do? NOTHING, your example proves as much. |

Health care services go up every year, and if you don't have insurance, treatment can run into several thousand. Prices are high not only for emergencies but also for inpatient care for the elderly. This is because of the constant monitoring and visiting of these patients. But if you want, you can always find an alternative. I have found it in private services that specialize in the care of the elderly. As a matter of fact, such specialists already have experience working with such patients, and you can entrust your relatives to them. Perhaps someone is searching for such a service, so it may be useful for you to learn about homecareassistance.com. I once trusted them with my grandmother's health. Do you trust your relatives' health to someone?

All too many got on the Sue the Crap out the Doctors as they have all the Insurance to cover. In hindsight they had to PURCHASE that insurance which currently for Malpractice in HORRENDOUSLY Expensive. Doc that did my neck surgery explained his Two Million policy cost him over $200,000 PER YEAR, the fee for surgeries includes a share of that expense. Each time that goes up so too Doctor's hourly rate.
ALL Health Care suppliers Albeit Hospital, Clinic, Private Practice and so on pays these fees and expenses, so once again NOTHING is for Free, you just pay ahead for it as does everyone else. Holds true for New cars/trucks too, every warranty expense EXPECTED is included in that price paid at a dealer, are STILL paying for repairs, just ahead of time.

A big issue driving price on healthcare is the current trend to A: continue to merge companies eliminating competition B: they all have a ton of money in reserves ( not sure how a " non profit" can carry the reserves I hear about) They can price the companies in your area out of global markets if healthcare costs get too far out of whack with rest of competitors. There is no real competition in most areas as there is commonly only one hospital so you have to use them. One of my pet peeves. Our costs in Milwaukee are 40 some percent more than many big cities! Why?

Friend of mine in OKC was a plastic surgeon when I was there in the 50's. We were talking one day while hunting and he said it cost $60,000 just to turn the key in the door for one month before he saw any money for himself of course even then malpractice insurance was off the board because of his specialty practice, then labor and rent.
