Had my 720’s on yard duties this weekend. I often refer to them as my mini 190’s. Great little tractors. Hard to believe they are 44 years old. Still original Onans. |

Thanks, Steve you have good eyes. My 1973 Super Beetle. Sadly after many years of having this bug, I may be selling it. Just don’t drive it much and it’s time for someone else to enjoy it. I restored in 2004 for our son. It was his first car. Dual Webber carbs, 17500cc big bore kit.

Hey Rob, I bet that little booger scoots aye? I remember when I was in high school in the 60's everybody had a bug to go to school in! Good on fuel, and just keep runnin', runnin', runnin'. I had a 66' Nova SS 327/350HP 4 speed. Pass everything but a gas station! LOL!

It doesn’t do bad for a bug, much better than stock! You had a great car in high school. That was one sweet ride. A friend of mine has a 72 Super Beetle, big bore kit, and he fabricated a blower for it. He gets through the first 3 gears in the 1/8th mile with the front tires in the air. It is very fast. He has shocked quite a few muscle cars stoplight to stoplight.

I had a 72 Super Beetle for a few years back in the late 70s-early 80s. Loved it, until one night I swerved to avoid hitting a deer and the Super Beetle tried to eat a telephone pole... Sheared the pole right off, still doing at least 40. On that road the poles are set less than 4 feet off the shoulder. Drove it the remaining 3 miles home, though - only in a Beetle! Broke my heart to scrap it... sold the tires to a neighbor to use on his tandem hay rake, sold the engine to another neighbor who was building an airboat, the crusher got the rest.

I need more than 200 characters for my "signature." I'd love to see that changed to 250!

I passed a 4x4 truck going up hill on a ice packed, snow covered highway as he continued to spin out trying to go up hill. Went by in second gear and never slipped the tires. They do very well in snow as long as its not too deep. They may not be fast, but dependable little cars. Certainly not safe anymore with the heavy vehicles on the road these days.
