 Topic: HELP WD45 HYDRAULICS

I GOT MY SECOND 45 HOME TODAY, AND THE LIFT ARMS WILL NOT GO DOWN UNLESS YOU PUSH THE CLUTCH OR SHUT THE TRACTOR OFF. I HAVE ADJUSTED ALL THE LINKAGE POINTS ACCORDING TO THE ORIGINAL OWENERS MANUAL. THE SLOTED BRACKET THAT CONNECTS TO THE LIFTING LINKS IS MISSING, BUT I BELIEVE IT'S ONLY FOR TRACTION CONTROL (not sure) THE OTHER BOOK I HAVE SAYS IT MAY BE THE HOLD POSITION BALL NOT OPENING. WOULD I HAVE TO TEAR THE PUMP APART TO LOOK AT THIS, OR JUST THE TOP WHERE THE DELAY ADJUSTMENT IS AT? ALSO THEY ADDED DUAL OUTLETS TO THE REAR OF THE TRACTOR. IT HAS A LEVER ALLOWING YOU TO PRESSURIZE EITHER SIDE OF THE CYLINDER INSTEAD OF VENTING ON ONE SIDE. WOULD THAT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT? THANKS FOR ANY HELP. MATT W.

How about taking a picture of what you have. Original WD and 45 lift arm cylinders can only be pushed one way by hydraulic pressure. Show us the valve and how it is connected.

I can do that, but the two way valve is for a implement pulled by drawbar, disk, drill, other pull type imp. etc. The lifting links for the SC are original equipment, with only one hose to each cylinder. If you would like I can still take a picture and show you what it looks like. Matt

OK, so if the 2 way valve is beyond the lift cylinders, they would extend first before your remote and that shouldn't effect the lift arms. Then the problem might be in your pump valve.

If the Traction Booster link (slotted flat iron with a 45 degree kink in it) is missing from the drawbar pull spring, you need to rotate the lower rear lever on the side of the pump counterclockwise a bit and turn in the thumbscrew so it fits into the "divet" in the pump case.....unless you do this, the pump is turned on slowly all the time.

Thanks Dr. Allis I'll check and see but I believe I locked it in the detent when I adjusted the linkage per manual, and yes Mr. Tucker the 2-way valve is beyond the lift arms. Matt

If the TB link is set like Dr. allis said. then the spool valve inside the pump is stuck. MACK

A couple seven penny nails, bent a little and with the points hammered to a small spoon shape will help in reassembly. I remember wrestling mine off but an old timer showed me how to use the nails to replace the pump.
