Hello All,

I have a 53? WD 45 and have obtained a new set of 12x28 Power adjust rims to replace the rotted 11" originals.  The concern is that the tires are relatively new 12.4x 28s.  Will these tires work with the new, wider rims or will I have to go to 13.6 x 28s?  If it helps, the tractor has been retired to light duty such as hayrides and will not likely see "real" farm work again.  Any insight is appreciated.

Thanks

I dont think you'll have any troubles.   Tires might just look a little rounder thats all.

My downloaded Goodyear Farm Tire Handbook says the approved rim for 12.4x28 is 11" wide, with 10" as an approved alternate. 13.6x28 likes the 12" rim. I recall pullers sometimes like the wider rim because it makes the sidewalls straighter and the tread flatter to the ground for better grip. I suspect the 12.4 tires will survive as long on 12" rims as on the approved 11 inch rims for the duty you plan for them. They will be harder to mount on the wide rims.

I have some 12.4's on some 12" wide rims and they work out just fine. It just flattens out the face of the tire a little more
Unless your are the lead horse the scenery never changes!!
