The wife is looking at a Jeep Compass or a Nissan Rogue as a replacement for the Caravan. Have any of you had experience with either one ? I'm not too keen on the looks of the Jeep personally, but if they hold up mechanically, I'll look the other way if that's the route she goes . Both are the same year and within 5200 miles of each other. Thanks

I would probably steer clear of the Compass because they had some major problems with the transmission. We had one,we did get 231,000 miles out of the car, body & everything else held up good. But I'm here to tell you if that transmission goes ,and it likely will it will cost more to replace it than the car is worth. I'm not bashing Jeeps, we've had them for 20 years and her last new car was a Jeep Patroit. But give that Compass a whole lot of thought before you buy it.

With those two to choose from, makes it hard to buy American, because the rogue is the clear winner.

I haven't checked for sure but I believe the Compass is made in Italy. That said, I'd go for the Rogue.

Back in 18 when we where looking several mechanics where not giving good reviews on the constant variable transmission that Nissan was pushing. They said it had potential but was not perfected in their option. But that was 2 years ago.
The one mechanic guy said "I have been a Chey guy forever, but I drive a Honda". Just what he was seeing coming thru his shop. We went with Toyota, but think they may not be as good as they use to be.
