The air conditioning charge light is on in my new to me 8070 and it does not blow cold any more.  The system looks stock.  Will there be R12 in there?    There are no stickers identifying the coolant that I could find.  What is the best product to recharge it with?   I don't think the whole system needs to be upgraded to something else does it?

post a photo of the service ports.

I do a LOT of a/c work. I've seen people use propane in R12 systems

if the tractor hasn't been retrofitted to 134a (started in 92, mandated by 94 for new cars etc) it could have r12 in it...or something else.

problem is if you mix wrong refrigerant you'll cause "black death" and kill the system

Thanks for the help.  I only see a blue cap and a small black cap.   Here is a picture of my compressor.

can you unscrew the cap? those caps are kind of generic for 134/12

They had R12 when new. That one has R134 in it. The high side hose obviously is leaking at the crimp and those pancake compressors weren't very good especially with the R134 gas.

Looks to me like a complete retrofit,, get ready to spend about $1000.00+ or-,,,a new 134 system will work fine..update to a Sandon compressor, new expansion valve...etc...
