   I took the govener apart on my 190 xt, Put it back together and it still idels up when I barely touch the throttle.   Why, everything appears to be right.  What else could it be.  This all started when I rebuilt the carb. Ever since then it dosent have any throttle, except for low and high.  Any help would be great.

	Your description confuses me. Let's assume you have the governor assembled correctly. With the engine off and hand throttle wide open, remove the pin from the clevis at the governor arm. Adjust the length of the clevis/rod so the pin will just slide back into the arm hole while holding the carb rod rearward (full open on the carb). Do NOT move the arm!! the length of the carb rod has to be just right so the pin will slide in the hole. Report back.

	I did that tonight when I checked it after it ran . Does the yolk go between the trust bearing and the gear. Or does it go in front of the bearing. Sorry if I confuse you but cant think of a better way to explain. Should there be play in the gov. with nthe front cap off. Like I said at a loss.

	Perhaps that engine came out of a combine? Those governors are meant to open up with a bit of throttle.

	Is the linkage catching or rubbing on anything?

	Is the throttle shaft in carb. free or is it worn to where the shaft can move when it first starts to open. Either one can cause the problem. MACK

	Sounds like the linkage is out of adjustment. The governor is an RPM limiter which means that the governor is holding the throttle butterfly closed against the stop screw until the governor spring has been overcome with the throttle lever. When you have the throttle lever at idle you would be holding the butterfly closed manually. When you move the throttle to increase the RPM's you release the manual part and now the governor is suppose to be trying to hold the butterfly closed and it takes throttle pressure on the governor spring to open the throttle butterfly. That is just the way all governors work. I would unhook the linkage at the carburetor and change the RPM's by hand to see how the governor linkage reacts at the carburetor. You need to have governor pressure on the throttle shaft arm trying to close the butterfly.

	it does seem to have some play when i move the throttle. I just dont know how this all happened, it didnt do this till i rebuilt the carb. when i give it throttle it moves a bit before the gov. cable moves. It does unpinn and pin ok thought. Thanks for the help, But I think I am going to have to break down and pay someone to fix it. I HATE GETTING BEAT!
