Just bought a 1958 D14 and was wondering if they all have low/high range transmissions. Mine has a shift position sticker that shows 8 speeds, but I do not see a lever to switch between the 2 ranges? Also, I need to get the sideplates that go under the tank behind the instrument cluster. Does anyone know where to purchase those. Thanks!

I think all D 14's had 2 ranges, called power director. Shifter should be big tall lever on the right hand side

Darrell, I thought that was just what I call the hand clutch? There is a push button on top of it. I had a WD with a hand clutch and it did not have that button on top. Does that have something to do with it?

Yes. The WD's hand clutch was just an in and out. On the D14 it is a high, neutral, and low. Push it all the way forward for high, pull it all the way back for low. Neutral is in the middle. Over the years the latch plate wears and you probably don't need to hold the button down to shift it anymore.

You can obtain the undertank covers from Norm, Doc, Tny C, and maybe a few more of the fine Suppliers who sponsor this site.

The button on top of the lever locks it in neutral popsition, and it should snap into low (back) and high (ahead). You can change from high to low just like a power shift (on the go with no clutching) and also use the neutral psition for live PTO.. Darrel
